Summer Ventures PART THREE

so this was my summer. i shot for OUR STATE magazine, a north carolina publication about the people and personalites of our great state. My internship was with their book division and i did a large bluk of the photography for a book called TRIAD-VENTURES and they sent me on assignment everywhere around the triad. they paid for all my slide film and i never was in the office. Rolling around in the dirt was my job for 3 months. this was the most amazing summer i have ever known--besides the magazine experience everything fell into place. a divine hand pushed me along and i thankful beyond words for places i went the amazing people i met who made my job taht uch easier and enjoyable. this was not work; this was love.

mixed into the multi-part deviation are shots that i took on my own just for me. basically i used everything i have been taught at UNC's AMAZING journalism school to chronicle the summer, MY summer. I shot countless rolls of chrome and i kept about a third of the film containers just as a reminder.

upon returning to chapel hill, i presented my work at the first photonight of the year, a gathering where a professional photographer comes and shows his or her work to the journalism school. my teacher reserved the first one for interns, and i along with three other students got the goahead to present. i wasnt nervous, but i felt out of place; my other collegues went to africa and chilie, exotic places i have never seen. that was the icing on the cake--i got a great response from people. i had managed to portray the piedmont triad of NC as a place just as exotic as south africa, or so i was told my some admirers. i was also able to recruit more people for our student magazine, the BLUE & WHITE of which i am photo editor.

So this is PART THREE of the story of the greatest 3 months of my life. please enjoy it. everday was an adventure--literally, and it was all my fault
